Godfather (1972)

This is an original, linen-backed, French grande theatrical movie poster from 1972 for The Godfather starring Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire and John Cazale. Francis Ford Coppola directed the Academy Award-winning film based on the book by Mario Puzo. S. Neil Fujita is the artist for the poster.

Due to the popularity of the film, more than one batch of posters was printed for the French theatrical release of The Godfather in 1972.  This poster is from the very first, initial batch of posters printed to promote the film. It measures 46" x 62.5" and has been linen-backed for long-term preservation and display. The poster was in very good condition prior to restoration with a small tear in the bottom-right corner, a few surface scuffs and minor edge creasing. The poster was folded at the time of printing but the folds are less noticeable after linen-backing. Linen-backed posters are stored flat and rolled for shipping in a rigid, tube mailer.
