This is an original, linen-backed, pre-awards one-sheet movie poster from 1968 for The Graduate starring Anne Bancroft, Dustin Hoffman, Katharine Ross, William Daniels and Buck Henry. Mike Nichols directed the classic film.
The Graduate premiered in December 1967 but was not widely theatrically released until early 1968. This poster is from the initial release (before the Academy Awards) and is the most desired style by most collectors. After the film won several Academy Awards in April 1968, new posters were printed advertising these wins.
Embassy Releasing distributed The Graduate in the United States and United Artists distributed the film outside the United States. This poster was printed in the United States for use in theaters outside the country and features the United Artists logo.
The poster measures 27" x 41" and has been linen-backed for long-term preservation and display. It was in very good condition prior to restoration with slight darkening along the folds and pinhole separations at the cross-folds. There was a tiny tear just below the bottom cross-fold. It was folded at the time of printing but the fold lines are much less noticeable after backing. The poster is now in excellent condition after restoration. It will be rolled for shipping in a rigid, tube mailer.
