This is an original, international one-sheet movie poster from 1961 for a theatrical re-release of Vertigo starring James Stewart, Kim Novak, Barbara Bel Geddes, Tom Helmore, and Henry Jones. Alfred Hitchcock directed the classic thriller based on a novel by Pierre Boileau and Thomas Narcejac.
This highly regarded, and very scarce, poster was printed in the United States for use in theaters outside the country and most experts agree it was printed in late 1960 or early 1961. It features aspects of the Saul Bass original release poster but also includes great artwork of Alfred Hitchcock, and images from the film.
The poster measures 27" x 41" and has been linen-backed for long-term preservation and display. It was in very good condition prior to restoration with pinholes and tape residue from theatrical display, scattered surface creases, with minor fold wear. Part of the top, white edge was once horizontally folded for framing. It was folded at the time of printing but the folds are much less noticeable after backing. Linen-backed posters are stored flat and rolled for shipping in a rigid, tube mailer.
Please look closely at the photos (this is the exact poster you are buying). It is not cropped or a stock photo. The black circles in the corners of the poster are magnets and not pins.
This extremely collectible poster, printed in 1961 to promote a theatrical re-release of Vertigo, is not a reprint or reproduction.
