Agony and the Ecstasy (1965)

This is an original, three-sheet theatrical movie poster from 1965 for the ongoing, "roadshow" 70mm theatrical release of The Agony and the Ecstasy starring Charlton Heston, Rex Harrison, Diane Cilento, Harry Andrews, Alberto Lupo, and Eleni Anousaki. Carol Reed directed the biography of painter and sculptor Michelangelo based on a novel by Irving Stone.  Howard Terpning is the artist for the poster.

The poster measures 41” x 84” and was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap.  Please note that it is slightly longer than traditional three-sheet posters as 20th Century Fox was experimenting with printing longer three-sheets in the mid-1960s.  The poster is in very good condition with pinholes in the corners from theatrical display, a tiny bit of paper loss in the bottom-left corner, and a few, pinhole-size separations at a few of the cross-folds. It was folded at the time of printing. Most folds flatten out nicely for framing and are often desirable for vintage, collectible movie posters.
