Film: Das Boot (1981)
Year poster printed: 1981
Country: Germany
Size: 23.5" x 46.75"
This is a very rare, original advance German movie poster from 1981 for Das Boot (The Boat) starring Jurgen Prochnow, Herbert Gronemeyer, Klaus Wennemann, Hubertus Bengsch, and Martin Semmelrogge. Wolfgang Petersen directed the classic World War II submarine film.
The poster was printed to tease the initial September 1981 release of the film in Germany. It measures 23.5" x 46.75" and is in very good condition. There are pinholes in each corner from theatrical display. This poster was folded at the time of printing. Most folds flatten out nicely for framing and are often desirable for vintage, collectible movie posters.
The poster advertises a September 18 release however the film was actually released on September 17. A small piece of black tape was placed over the day on the poster in 1981 to mitigate this error.
The text along the bottom of the poster translates to:
"The Fear. The Hate. The Hope. The Love. The Dying. The Film. The Boat."
Please look closely at the photo (this is the actual poster you will receive). The small black squares in the corners and sides of the photo are magnets to hold the poster down and are not pins. The poster contains nudity and a yellow box was placed on the preview image. The image on this product page, on the poster itself, is uncensored.
This collectible poster is not a reproduction or reprint. It was printed in Germany in 1981 to promote the initial release of Das Boot.
