This is an original, one sheet movie poster from 1969 for Death of a Gunfighter starring Richard Widmark, Lena Horne, Carroll O'Connor, Dub 'Cannonball' Taylor, John Saxon, Victor French, Harry Carey Jr., and James Lydon. Robert Totten and Don Siegel directed the western.
Robert Totten was the original director for the film but he was fired during production due to conflicts with star Richard Widmark. Don Siegel was hired as the new director but did not want his name replacing Totten in the credits. The infamous pseudonym Alan Smithee (typically used when a Director doesn't want their name associated with their film) was used on the poster as a compromise.
The poster measures 27” x 41” and is very good condition with pinholes in the corners from theatrical display and minor edge wear from handling. It was folded at the time of printing. Most folds flatten out nicely for framing and are often desirable for vintage, collectible movie posters.
Please look closely at the photos (this is the exact poster you are buying). It is not cropped or from a stock image.
This collectible poster, printed in 1969 to promote the theatrical release of Death of a Gunfighter, is not a reproduction or a reprint.
