Aguila o Sol (1938)

This is an original, linen-backed, Mexican movie poster from the late 1940s for a theatrical re-release of Aguila o Sol (1938) starring Mario Moreno Cantinflas, Manuel Medel, Margarita Mora, Marina Tamayo, and Manuel Arvide. Arcady Boytler directed the Mexican musical comedy.  The poster features artwork created in 1946 by Ernesto García Cabral.

The poster measures 27” x 36.25” and has been linen-backed for long-term preservation and display. Prior to backing the poster was in very good condition with some staining on the bottom right corner and darkening of the bottom vertical fold. The poster had been folded at the time of printing but the folds are less noticeable after backing. This poster was linen-backed with the European method and had minimal restoration.

Please look closely at the photos (this is the exact poster you are buying). It is not cropped or a stock image.  The black circles in the corners of the poster are magnets and not pins.

This rare and very collectible poster, printed in the 1940s to promote a limited, Mexican theatrical re-release of Aguila o Sol, is not a reprint or reproduction.
