This is an original, linen-backed, three-sheet movie poster from 1949 for a theatrical re-release of Freaks (1932) starring Wallace Ford, Leila Hyams, Olga Baclanova, Roscoe Ates, Henry Victor, and Harry Earles. Tod Browning directed the classic horror thriller.
Freaks had a short, and disastrous, initial theatrical release in 1932 and in 1947, MGM sold the rights to the film for the next twenty-five years to producer/director Dwain Esper who was more successful in marketing the controversial film.
The poster measures 41" x 81" and has been linen-backed for long-term preservation and display. The poster was in very good condition prior to restoration with minimal edge wear, creasing, and some areas of separation at some of the cross-folds. Fold lines are much less noticeable after linen-backing. Linen-backed posters are stored flat and rolled for shipping in a rigid, tube mailer.
Please look closely at the photos as this is the exact poster you are buying. It is not cropped or a stock image. The black squares in the corners of the poster are magnets and not pins.
This very rare and collectible poster, printed in 1949 to promote a theatrical re-release of Freaks, is not a reproduction or a reprint.
