This is an original, rolled, Japanese two-panel theatrical movie poster from 1970 for a theatrical re-release of Walt Disney's Pinocchio. The classic film features the voices of Dickie Jones (as Pinocchio), Cliff Edwards (as Jiminy Cricket), Christian Rub (as Gepetto), Evelyn Venable, Mel Blanc, Walter Catlett and Frankie Darro. Hamilton Luske and Ben Sharpsteen directed the puppet fantasy.
he Tatekan-style poster measures 20” x 57” and is in very good to excellent condition. It was printed in two sections designed to overlap and the theater that displayed the poster glued the two sections together before putting it on display. They also applied a few pieces of tape on the back as well to keep the sections secure. The poster has minimal creasing and a tiny tear on the lower-left edge. It has never been folded.
Please look closely at the photo (this is the exact poster you are buying). It is not cropped or a stock image. The black circles in the corners of the poster are magnets and not pins.
This extremely rare and collectible poster, printed in 1970 to promote a Japanese theatrical re-release of Pinocchio, is not a reproduction or a reprint.
