This is an original, French grande theatrical movie poster from 1967 for Belle de Jour starring Catherine Deneuve, Jean Sorel, Michel Piccoli, Genevieve Page and Pierre Clementi. Luis Bunuel directed the classic drama. Rene Ferracci is the artist for the poster.
Belle de Jour was initially released in France by Valoria Films and they are credited in the bottom-left corner of the poster. This particular poster was later used for a theatrical re-release of Belle de Jour and the Valoria Films credit was overprinted in black. The credit can barely be seen under the black ink. Subsequent posters printed for re-releases of the film did not have the Valoria Films credit in the bottom left-corner however this poster does and therefore was printed for the limited, first release of the film and then re-used for a theatrical re-release.
The poster measures 46" x 62.25" and has been linen-backed for long-term preservation and display. The poster was in good to very good condition prior to restoration with pinholes in the corners from theatrical display, wear along parts of the fold lines and cross-folds, and some light surface creases. It was folded at the time of printing but the fold lines are less visible after backing. The poster has been stored flat for many years and will be rolled for shipping in a rigid, tube mailer.
Please look closely at the photos (this is the exact poster you are buying). It is not cropped or a stock image. The black circles in the corners of the poster are magnets and not pins.
This very rare and collectible poster, printed in 1967 to promote the initial, French theatrical release of Belle de Jour, is not a reproduction or a reprint.
