Treasure Island (1934)

This is an original, linen-backed, one-sheet movie poster from 1934 for Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island starring Wallace Beery, Jackie Cooper, Lionel Barrymore, Otto Kruger, Lewis Stone, and Nigel Bruce. Victor Fleming directed the classic pirate adventure film.

In the 1930s, one sheet posters often traveled from theater to theater with prints of the film.  Theater owners often received a film with a missing, or severely damaged, poster and no way to advertise their newest feature.  A number of companies began producing their own one sheet posters for upcoming films that were available to theater owners weeks before the regular one-sheet was available to them.  These one sheets are much more rare than the studio one-sheets and featured different artwork.  They typically served as teaser posters for future releases. 

This poster, likely printed by Leader Press, served as an advance poster for Treasure Island before the regular one-sheet arrived.  It measures 28.25" x 41.5" and has been linen-backed for long-term preservation and display. The poster was in very good condition prior to restoration with pinholes on the corners from theatrical display and minor fold wear.  It was folded after printing but he fold lines are much less noticeable after restoration.  Linen-backed posters are stored flat and rolled for shipping in a rigid, tube mailer.

Please look closely at the photos (this is the exact poster you are buying). The small, black circles in the corners of the poster are magnets and not pins.
